    Hussein Salim

    RVP Tanzania Board, President

Hussein Salim is the Founding Director of Ndoto in Action, a Tanzania-based charitable organization built around the belief that education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. Based in Arusha, Ndoto in Action works to provide quality education, clean water, and improved health and sanitation for children in rural communities, with a goal of reaching tens of thousands of children in the years ahead.

As President of the RVP Tanzania Board, Hussein brings both professional expertise and deep personal commitment to his role. He understands the barriers that poverty places in front of children, and he has dedicated his career to removing them — one school, one classroom, and one child at a time.

  • Peter Maliva

    Peter Maliva

Peter Maliva is a teacher at Gunilla Primary School in Dumbeta Ward. After serving as a head teacher in a neighboring ward for several years, he has returned to the classroom — drawn back by his love of teaching and his commitment to the students of Dumbeta Ward. With 23 years of experience in primary education, he has watched former students go on to become doctors, engineers, nurses, and teachers — a source of pride that speaks to the impact a dedicated teacher can have on a community.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the Open University of Tanzania, where his research focused on water resource availability and management in Katesh Ward — a topic with direct relevance to the community he has spent his career serving.

Peter's connection to the Rafiki Village Project goes back to its founding story. It was Peter who first invited David Newman to Gijega Primary School, and it was his passion for teaching and his commitment to his students that helped inspire the organization's founding mission. He has remained a valued friend and partner of the RVP ever since.

As the Nurse Clinical Officer at Dumbeta Dispensary, she has an intimate, ground-level understanding of the health challenges facing the Dumbeta Ward community. Her clinical focus on reproductive and child health informs her perspective as a board member, and her long service to the community reflects the values at the heart of the Rafiki Village Project's mission. Eunice's voice on the board ensures that the needs of patients — and the realities of delivering care in a resource-limited setting — remain central to the organization's decision-making.
