Schools
Gijega Primary School
Gijega Primary School is the second-largest school in Dumbeta Ward, Tanzania, and also the most remote. Poor road conditions make travel to and from the school difficult, especially during the rainy season.
Gijega was the first school to partner with the Rafiki Village Project. During the organization’s early years, we worked exclusively at Gijega Primary School and Dumbeta Dispensary. As a result, more projects have been completed at Gijega than at any other school in the ward.
Gichbord Primary School
Gichbord Primary School is the newest and smallest of Dumbeta Ward’s five primary schools. Prior to the start of the Rafiki Village Project’s partnership with the community, the school had 374 students crowded into four unfinished classrooms.
Lamay Primary School
A waterline was installed connecting the school to a public water source 3 miles away. Previously students had to carry water to the school over a long distance.
Dumbeta Primary School
Dumbeta Primary School is the oldest and the largest of Dumbeta Ward’s five primary schools. Until 2003 it was the only school in the ward.
Dumbeta Secondary School
Dumbeta Secondary School is the only secondary school in Dumbeta Ward. All five of the ward’s primary schools feed into it.
