Gichbord Primary School
Gichbord Primary School is the newest and smallest of Dumbeta Ward’s five primary schools. Prior to the start of the Rafiki Village Project’s partnership with the community, the school had 374 students crowded into four unfinished classrooms.
As of 2026, the school has eight classrooms. All but two of them have been attractively renovated, with large windows, new desks and finished walls, floors, and ceilings. As a result, classroom size has been greatly reduced, and students are learning in an environment they can be proud of.
Opened: 2016
Enrollment: 430 (2026)
Head Teacher: Ms. Joyce J. Banzi
Completed Projects
2020: COMPLETION OF PARTIALLY CONSTRUCTED CLASSROOM BUILDING.
In 2020, the Rafiki Village Project partnered with the community to complete a classroom building that had been started but never finished. Completing this partially constructed building provided the school with two new classrooms and an office, significantly reducing overcrowding and improving learning conditions.
2024: CONSTRUCTION OF NEW CLASSROOM BUILDING
In 2024, the Rafiki Village Project in partnership with the community constructed a new classroom building, further expanding the school’s capacity and improving the learning environment for students.
2026: COMPLETION OF PARTIAL CONSTRUCTED CLASSROOM BUILDING
In 2026, the Rafiki Village Project once again worked with the community to complete another partially constructed classroom building, continuing its commitment to improving educational infrastructure in Dumbeta Ward.
