RafikiVillageProject

Who We Are

The Rafiki Village Project has made a long-term commitment to helping Dumbeta Ward, a rural community in north-central Tanzania. Dumbeta Ward faces many challenges, including limited access to clean water, food insecurity, inadequate healthcare, underfunded schools, limited access to technology, gender inequality, and a lack of economic opportunity.

We work in close collaboration with the community to address these challenges. Our goal is to have a direct, positive, lasting, and measurable impact on people’s lives. Community members guide all major decisions, determine how resources are allocated, and contribute substantially to each project. Together, we share a commitment to the long-term sustainability of every project.

Our approach is grounded in radical listening, trust, humility, and compassion. We believe this allows the community to reach its full potential and move beyond poverty. At the heart of our work are three guiding principles:
Community, Collaboration, and Commitment.

What We Do

We fund community-led projects that improve daily life across Dumbeta Ward, including water systems, classrooms, school kitchens, sanitation facilities, a birth center, and housing for medical staff. We also provide quarterly stipends to the ward’s public schools and health clinic to support essential supplies, medications, and facility improvements.
